A strange thing happened on Thursday, July 17, as the highly anticipated Max 60 Caribbean League kicked off in George Town. Several Indian names featured in the league, such as Ankit Rajpoot, starring for the Vegas Vikings. Rishi Dhawan and Shahbaz Nadeem are featuring in the second season of the Max 60.
The RR pacer, Rajpoot, also went on to play his first match on Friday, July 18, against Caribbean Tigers, but had a mediocre outing as he failed to pick a wicket. However, what got the social media going was the participation of Rajpoot and several other Indian players in the Max 60 League.
What does the BCCI rule imply for foreign T20 Leagues?
For the unversed, the BCCI has banned Indian players from playing in any other T20 franchise leagues other than the IPL. A player must be retired or take NOC from the Board to feature in any overseas leagues. That is also the same reason why players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and several players have not featured in any T20 Leagues except the IPL.

Rajpoot made it to the Max 60 League due to never having played a game for India in any format. The pacer was also not part of BCCI's central contract system. Also, his last IPL game came way back in 2020 for the Royals. Further, the BCCI has only put restrictions on IPL players from playing T20 League across the globe, but there is no restriction on playing T10 Leagues, as that is not recognised by the ICC.
