The Yo-Yo test has been one of the key fitness benchmarks in Indian cricket since 2019. Introduced during the Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri era, it’s conducted three times a year for contracted players to assess their fitness levels.
Since it was introduced when Virat Kohli was the Indian skipper, he consistently aced the test, setting high standards for the team. His personal best? A strong score of 19. Known for his exceptional fitness, Kohli has inspired teammates to push their limits.
However, over the years, a few players have outperformed even Virat Kohli and some of these names will truly surprise you.

Dagar was also part of the RCB setup with Kohli and currently plays in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Ahmed Banday – 19.4
Another unfamiliar name, Ahmed Banday, has represented Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy. Back in the 2018 domestic season, he clocked a Yo-Yo test score of 19.4, which remained unbeaten for five years until someone else on this list surpassed it.
Mayank Agarwal – 21.1
Topping the list is former Indian Test opener Mayank Agarwal, who achieved an incredible score of 21.1 in September 2023, ahead of the domestic season. Agarwal had a decent run with the Indian Test side, but inconsistent performances overseas led to his exit from the squad. Since then, he has featured for multiple IPL teams and was part of the RCB squad that lifted the IPL trophy in 2025.
