Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Rahul Dravid has dismissed rumours of a rift with captain Sanju Samson, calling them baseless after a viral video from their Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) super over loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) sparked speculation.
The footage showing RR head coach Rahul Dravid in a tense strategy huddle with players before the super over with Samson not a part of it fueled speculation of a rift within the team.Â

Dravid has dismissed these claims as “baseless,” asserting that he and Samson remain firmly aligned.
"I don't know where these reports are coming from. Sanju and I are on the same page," said Dravid as quoted in a pre-match press conference.
"He's a very integral part of our team. He's involved in each and every decision and discussion. Sometimes, when you lose games and things don't go right, you face criticism and we can take it on our performances, but we can't do anything about this baseless stuff. The spirit of the team is really good, I'm impressed with how hard these guys work. One of the things people don't understand is how hurt the players feel when they don't perform," he added.
Sanju Samson Doubtful for LSG Match Due to Injury Scare
Samson’s availability for the next game RR’s against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is uncertain due to a possible side strain, with his team awaiting scan results to confirm his status. The issue surfaced during RR’s match versus DC on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.Â
Samson retired hurt after appearing uneasy following a cut shot against leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam.

Dravid provided an update on Samson’s condition, stating,
"Sanju experienced a bit of pain in the abdominal area. So we have gone for scans. He has done some scans today so we are waiting the results of those scans. And then once we get a bit more clarity around the scans and the severity of (the injury) we'll take a decision going forward and we'll see what happens."
With RR languishing at eighth place on the IPL 2025 points table, Samson’s injury is a massive blow for his side.
